SMOQEHOUSE is a fast casual eatery featuring hand crafted sandwiches, salads, soups, fries and whatever else our creatives have up their sleeves that day. it is a concept that we developed after years in the restaurant industry. No, we are not traditional bbq! we are a from scratch kitchen and we get our influences from other countries and how they use fire & smoke to season food.our purpose and mission is to make amazing, quality food that is both accessible & affordable while also providing stable & rewarding job opportunities for the local community.
We are a husband and wife team along with the help of our 3 kiddos. We started with our first location in our hometown of Faribault, MN in 2016 when A friend of ours (Adam) sent us a FB post for a open spot in a mall. We signed a lease on the spot without really having a clue as to what we were going to do. We just started showing up everyday, cleaning, painting, and creating until SMOQEHOUSE evolved. We launched a Go Fund Me in January of 2016 to help raise the last bit of funds we needed to push to open and within 24 hours, we were there. The support was incredible and very humbling. Andy is the builder- he created then hand painted the animal heads, built all the benches, tables, light boxes etc. heidi designed our logo, created all signs, menus, packaging,website, apparel, etc. Together, we created the brand,the feel & the menu. It has really been a labor of love. About a year after launching SMOQEHOUSE-FBO, we were asked to open another just up the street in a small college town- Northfield, MN. We officially opened that location in march of 2017. From there, we hit the ground running. Our Anna Maria Island, fl- location opened just a mere 5 months later. AMI has had our hearts for years and when an existing restaurant spot became available and was placed in front of us, we knew we needed to jump on it! After a couple years of navigating multiple locations, hurricanes, red tide, and living apart, we moved our family to the Gulf Coast of FL where we opened our Sarasota location in Feb of 2020. To say that this road has been challenging would be an understatement but we truly believe each of our locations exists for a purpose. We have been blessed to have an amazing crew and strong family support. Everyone has contributed in some way.
We are a faith based company and have a strong desire to continue to grow if the right opportunity presents itself. We believe that God opens doors when the time is right. We pride ourselves in being a small business with amazing food, the best team around, and just providing an all around fun atmosphere to work and eat!
